(92-94+) Another classic wine from this estate, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape is based on 65% Grenache, 15% each Syrah and Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault and other varieties, aged 20-22 months in 60-hectoliter French oak foudres. It offers juicy red and black fruits, pepper, graphite, crushed stone, and sappy flowers. Medium-bodied, with a fresh, focused, vibrant mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and outstanding length, it plays in the fresh, focused style of the vintage yet brings solid structure and a classic sense of austerity.
(91-93) Mixing 70% Grenache with the remainder split between Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, the 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau unwinds with wild strawberry, ripe blackberry, stemmy subtleties and peppery accents. Vinified using roughly 30% whole clusters, the 2024 is the first La Crau vintage where the grapes from around one hectare of Cinsault went into the mix, which was previously used for the Télégramme. Full-bodied, structured and concentrated, the 2024 is shaping up nicely, finishing with composure and subtle spiciness.
